INCOTERMS 2020
ICC Ghana is delighted to announce the first ICC Incoterms® 2020
Training Seminar taking place at the Fiesta Royale Hotel on the 22nd –
23rd June 2021.
Background:
On the 25th of November, 2019, the International Chamber of Commerce,
Ghana launched the incoterms 2020, the latest version which is also the
10th edition. The new term took effect on January 1, 2020 and has been
updated to identify the responsibilities of buyers and sellers for the
delivery of goods in international trade. Incoterms® 2020 is accessible
and easier to use, and includes more detailed explanatory notes with
enhanced graphics to illustrate the responsibilities of importers and
exporters for each Incoterms® rule.
As Ghana commences trading within the Africa Continental Free Trade
Area, there are clearly many trade opportunities for Ghanaian companies,
but trading conditions are getting tougher with increasing barriers as
governments turn to protectionist measures globally as a result of the
pandemic. ICC Incoterms® provides a solution to helping companies
improve trade capability and reduce costs, risks and unnecessary
disputes when buying and selling goods.
Learning Outcomes:
- Use the Incoterms 2020 Rules with confidence in order to identify the
most suitable Incoterms rule; - Understand the fundamentals of each rule, such as when it should be
used, when risk passes and how costs are allocated between buyer and
seller; - Describe the main issues to be considered by buyers, sellers and
carriers as well as identify the relevant transport documents in order
to secure a successful sales transaction; - Describe what an Incoterms rule does and doesn’t do in order to avoid
dangerous mismatches with the outlying contracts of transport, insurance
