
ICC China led a 40-man delegation from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade to Ghana. The leader of the delegation Mr Xu Yanbo in his address stated that In 2018, bilateral trade reached 7.25 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.7% year on year. Among them, China’s exports were 4.81 billion US dollars, a decrease of 0.2% year-on-year; imports were 2.44 billion US dollars, an increase of 31.8% year-on-year. China mainly exports electromechanical, textile, steel, imported crude oil, manganese ore, and cocoa beans.
By the end of 2018, Chinese enterprises had signed contractual agreements with a value of 23.75 billion US dollars in Ghana and completion turnover of 12.8 billion US dollars. In 2018, the amount of newly signed contracts contracted by Chinese enterprises in Ghana was 3.22 billion US dollars, and the turnover was 1.13 billion US dollars. These contracts are mainly in the fields of roads, bridges, housing construction and electric power.
By the end of 2017, China’s direct investment in Ghana was 1.58 billion US dollars. In 2018, the total mount of direct investment in the whole industry was 68.54million US dollars, mainly related to mineral resources development, power construction, real estate development and fisheries.
